John R. McGinley

John R. McGinley is recognized by Continental Who’s Who as a Pinnacle Lifetime Member as a result of his contributions in the field of Law. McGinley currently serves as a member of the Board of Directors and Chair of the Executive Committee at the national law firm Eckert Seamans, as well as being a trial attorney for the firm. Amassing over 45 years of experience in the legal industry, McGinley has held a variety of different positions throughout his career. McGinley specializes in several facets of law which includes knowledge in law, business, and real estate. After graduating from Duquesne University School of Law with his JD in 1968, McGinley went on to become the assistant district attorney for Allegheny County in Southwestern Pennsylvania.

He soon after cofounded his own law firm called Grogan Graffam McGinley, P.C., where he practiced as a trial attorney and partner for more than 30 years before moving on to Eckert Seamans as an equity partner in 2002. Outside of his law career, McGinley is extremely accomplished. He has been successful in many other business endeavors and has assumed leadership roles in many organizations. McGinley is the current chair and President of Ballmoney& Company, a business that develops and manages properties. He also directed a beverage company for a number of years called Wilson McGinley Inc., a company which distributes and beer and malt beverages wholesale.

 In addition, as a true testament to his love for non-profits, McGinley currently serves as a director of Duquesne University, an emeritus trustee of Saint Bonaventure University, and the chair of the Rita McGinley Foundation. The foundation was started in honor of McGinley’s deceased aunt, Rita McGinley, who was a beloved teacher and philanthropist.

Both McGinley and his aunt held stakes in the Pittsburgh Steelers and McGinley has even served as a director of the Pittsburgh Steelers Football Club. McGinley’s continued accomplishments and exemplary career path have had a seemingly positive effect on the lives of his three children. His children, John, Mary, and Kate, who he dedicates this recognition to, are all adults now and have somewhat followed in their father’s footsteps. Both his daughter Mary and his son John are accomplished lawyers, and John now manages the family beverage company, Wilson McGinley Inc. He refers to both Mary, and his other daughter, Kate, who he calls a “top-notch yoga instructor,” as “first-class” mothers to their children. McGinley would also like to dedicate this recognition to David Fawcett, Jr., a longtime friend and law associate of his who passed away in 2012.
