Michele A. Whitham, Esquire., is recognized by Continental Who’s Who as a Pinnacle Professional in the field of Law as a result of her many years of distinguished legal service, most recently as the founder and manager of Whitham Law LLC. Prior to launching her new venture in 2016, Ms. Whitham was a Partner at Foley Hoag LLP for 26 years. The firm is a highly regarded and repeatedly recognized, full service AmLaw 200 law firm. For eight of those years, (from 2000 -2008) in addition to managing her legal practice, she served as a member of the firm’s Executive Committee, 7 as the firm’s Co-Managing Partner.
In addition, Whitham cofounded and co-chaired the firm’s Security and Privacy Practice Group and was throughout her career a member of its Labor and Employment Group. With her expertise in data theft detection and mitigation, devising policies, procedures and best practices for protecting corporate and personal data, and litigating cyber-attack cases, Whitham is a frequent public speaker on both local and national levels. Following her retirement from Foley Hoag at year-end 2015, Whitham briefly served as a Partner in the Boston Office of Locke Lord LLP, a century-old full service international law firm with over a dozen offices throughout the globe, before launching her new venture. A seasoned attorney with over 26 years of experience, Whitham’s areas of focus include: data privacy and security, employment (including discrimination, harassment, policy design, strategic business development and personnel management), and litigation in her areas of expertise.
She also advises global businesses in North America, Europe, Africa and Asia/Pacific in regard to strategic human resource issues. An AV Preeminent rated attorney through Martindale Hubbell, Whitham was recognized by the National Association of Professional Women as a VIP Woman of The Year for her top tier legal service. To keep up with the latest in the industry, Whitham maintains affiliation with the American Bar Association, Massachusetts Bar Association, Advanced Cyber Security Center (which she served from the outset as outside counsel), the International and Massachusetts Women’s Fora, and the President’s Council of Cornell Women.
She has also served as a Director on many boards and is currently a member of the Boards of Directors of the worldrenowned Joselin Diabetes Center, Wentworth Institute of Technology and the Partnership, Inc., devoted to the professional advancement of diverse executives; Whitham is also an Emeritus Director of Heading Home, dedicated to ending homelessness in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
