Theresa Preston is recognized by Continental Who’s Who as a Pinnacle Professional in recognition of her contributions to the field of Nonprofit. The mission of the Lower Mainland Down Syndrome Society is based in opportunities. “Our members believe that individuals with Down Syndrome are capable of full participation in society and should be given the opportunity to develop their potential.”

 The website continues to indicate that “to make the mission come to life, the Lower Mainland Down Syndrome society aims to advocate that governments and appropriate agencies provide the special resources often needed by individuals with Down Syndrome.”

The society was established in 1989 and “circulates information to a membership list of over 600, composed of parents, self advocates and professionals.” Preston touts a 27-year career in the field, with expertise in operations, fundraising and management. As General Manager at Lower Mainland Down Syndrome Society, Preston specializes in information, support and resources for individuals with Down syndrome and assisting their families.

Additionally, Preston’s area of expertise resides in strategic planning, public speaking, event management and team building. To further her professional development, Preston is a member of the Surrey Association for Community Living. Outside of work, she volunteers her time to both her local Rotary Club and to the Down Syndrome Research Foundation. She also enjoys spending time with family, walking, and spending time outdoors.
