Dennis D. Traux

Dennis D. Traux, Ph.D., P.E., DEE, F. ASCE, F. NSPE, is recognized by Continental Who’s Who as a Pinnacle Lifetime Member in recognitions of his contributions to the field of Higher Education — in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. Dr. Traux has served as the Chair, Department Head and Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Mississippi State University. He brings expertise in all aspects of civil engineering, as well as higher education and university courses, to his role. Beginning his academic career by earning a Bachelor of Science degree from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in 1976, Dr. Traux went on to complete a Master of Science degree in Civil Engineering, with a major in Environmental Engineering from Mississippi State University in 1978, and then his Ph.D. in Civil Engineering with a major Environmental Engineering and a minor in Biochemistry, also from Mississippi State University in 1986. Additionally, Dr. Traux is a Registered Professional Engineer by the State of Mississippi as well as a Diplomate in Environmental Engineering. To further his professional development, Dr. Traux is a member of a number of professional and academic associations, including: the Mississippi Board of Registration of Professional Engineers and Surveyors; the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying; the American Society of Civil Engineers; and the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, Inc. He has also volunteered his time to mentoring students and worked on a project to help bring fresh water to Zambia. In recognition of his outstanding accomplishments in the field, Dr. Traux is the recipient of numerous honors awards, most notably: 2017 Inductee in Worldwide Lifetime Achievement; 1995 Recipient of the Mississippi Outstanding Civil Engineer of the Year from the Mississippi Section of the American Society of Civil Engineers; 1994 Recipient of the Golden Key Outstanding Faculty Award from the Golden Key National Honor Society; and was a Featured Member of Who’s Who in American Education in 1991, 1993, 1995 and 2003.
