Myrna L. Fischman, Ph.D, CPA, is being recognized by Continental Who’s Who as a Pinnacle Lifetime Achiever in the field of Accounting as a Certified Public Accountant and Professor at Long Island University.
Dr. Fischman’s illustrious career has taken her through the gamut of multiple titles and designations. She has served in numerous positions at Long Island University including professor of accounting, taxation and law since 1979, director of the Center for Accounting & Tax Education since 1986 and director of the School of Professional Accountancy since 1984. She coordinated the Graduate Capstone Courses at the college and has previously served as the Accounting Department Chair. She has shared her expertise with the students of Manhattan Community College and Commercial High School as an instructor of accounting while simultaneously working as a self-employed CPA. Respected for her knowledge and expertise in her field, Dr. Fischman authored “Who will teach our Future CPAs?” published in the Trusted Professional and was a reviewer for The CPA Journal. She is highly skilled in all areas of accounting and accounting education.
Beginning her career as a student at CUNY, Dr. Fischman earned her Bachelor of Science and Master of Science simultaneously in 1964. She subsequently became certified to be a Public Accountant by the State of New York. Dr. Fischman later obtained a Ph.D. from New York University. She holds memberships with the National Education Association, American Association of University Professors, American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Institute of Management Accountants, and the New York State Society of CPAs. Other notable affiliations include the Brooklyn chapter of the Tax Institute at Long Island University, the Doctorate Association of New York, the Financial Executives Institute, the American Accounting Association, the Association of Government Accountants, and the International Society of Business Education.
In recognition of her successful career, Dr. Fischman is a recipient of the Community Service Society Award (1969) Dr. Emanuel Saxe Outstanding CPA in Education Award (1994-95), Lifetime Achievement Award, Soroptimist International (1997) and the Director’s Award, Department of the Treasury, IRS (2000).
