With more than 20 years of experience in the medical field, Dr. Abate started his career as a cardiologist and then became a leader in pharma and diagnostics industries on behalf of his vast experience in medical affairs and clinical development in pharma, diagnostics, and device. He previously served as Executive Director Medical Affairs at Quest Diagnostics where he was responsible for a department of over 70 employees and provided oversight of the clinical franchise medical directors as well as the publication department, field medical genetic counselors team, and HEOR functions.

Dr. Abate currently serves as a consultant/business strategist who has proven expertise in driving growth, accelerating employee performance, building high-performance teams, specializing as a business strategist, and developing high-performance cultures. He currently is supporting multiple companies in device, pharma, and novel diagnostic products. He is also one of the founders of a start-up a non-profit for addiction recovery in hopes of addressing the unmet need of the many people suffering from addiction today.

Throughout his education and training, Dr. Abate completed a Bachelor of Science at Fairleigh Dickinson University in New Jersey. Following this, he earned a Doctorate of Medicine from la Universidad Cetec in the Dominican Republic in 1981. He completed an internal medicine residency at St. Vincent’s Medical Center and a cardiology fellowship at the University of South Florida.
