Michael A. Jantz, MD

Michael A. Jantz, MD is recognized by Continental Who’s Who as a Pinnacle Professional in the field of Medicine as an Interventional Pulmonologist and Professor of Medicine at the University of Florida. 

Specializing in Interventional Pulmonology and Pulmonary Medicine with a focus on Thoracic Oncology, Dr. Jantz has 28 years of experience in his field and has served 18 years in his current position. For newcomers to the field, Dr. Jantz recommends, “Be committed to treating patients with a poor prognosis and give them a better quality of life for them.” Having an amazing mentor has been Dr. Jantz’s key to success. As to why Dr. Jantz enjoys teaching so much, he states, “Being a professor is the best of both worlds: academic stimulation and patient interactions.” A decorated professional in his field, Dr. Jantz was has published 64 articles and 15 book chapters and has given 44 international and national presentations. Dr. Jantz has served on the Board of Directors of the American Association for Bronchology and Interventional Pulmonology and has been a member of the American College of Chest Physicians Diagnosis and Management of Lung Cancer Guidelines working group. 

Throughout his education and training, Dr. Jantz received his Doctorate of Medicine and completed his Residency in Internal Medicine from the University of Washington, School of Medicine. 

Following this, Dr. Jantz completed his Fellowship in Pulmonary Disease & Critical Care at the Medical University of South Carolina College of Medicine. 

To further his professional development, Dr. Jantz is a member of the American College of Chest Physicians, the American Thoracic Society, the Society of Critical Care Medicine, the American Association for Bronchology and Interventional Pulmonology, the World Association for Bronchology, the American College of Physicians, and the American Medical Association; Dr. Jantz is also a Fellow with the American College of Chest Physicians-Inducted in 2001. 

In acknowledgement of his professional achievements, Dr. Jantz was honored with the Master Clinician Award from the University of Florida Department of Medicine (2012-2013 and 2014-2015), the Consumer Research Most Compassionate Doctor Award (2012), and America’s Best in Medicine award by the American Health Council (2019). 

Outside of work, Dr. Jantz is traveling and studying eastern philosophies (especially Buddhism).
